Tooth-Colored Fillings, Inlays and Onlays

In recent years, dentists have learned more aesthetic ways to repair cavities and broken teeth. No longer do patients need to put up with darkening metal fillings that can even cause cracked teeth. Tooth-colored fillings and porcelain inlays and onlays have replaced metal fillings while providing other benefits as well.
  • Tooth-Colored Fillings

These fillings are created from the same composite resin as dental bonding material. Not only can the composite resin be tinted to match natural teeth, it also adheres tightly to tooth tissue. Metal fillings required more of a tooth to be drilled away so the filling would be supported all around by tooth tissue. With composite resin used as filling material, patients can retain more of their natural tooth. These fillings are extremely durable as well as attractive.

  • Inlays and Onlays

Lab-created inlays and onlays are made to fill in larger areas of decay or damage. These beautiful porcelain restorations strengthen teeth more than simple fillings, and can even replace the point (cusp) of a tooth that has broken off.
